Self Portrait by Artist
A life long passion for horses and art has led Maria Trott down
a comfortable path over the years. She left the city graphic
artist's office in favour of long hours of training, riding and
painting horses on her 60 acres of bush land on the mid north
coast of NSW Australia. It is there Maria has found the space
and freedom to indulge her artistic instinct and her passion
for horses.
Both were given
a push by family friend and noted Australian artist Arthur Murch.
Maria spent many hours in his company during childhood years
and he nourished her budding talent by teaching her to 'construct'
a horse. Years of schooling followed but it failed to spark more
than a passing technical interest in landscapes and still life
work - it was portraiture and horses that moved her. And they
still do in many parts of her life.
Nowadays Maria
has a small studio inside her house. In it she has built up an
enviable reputation as an equine artist and portrait painter
and also created a successful graphics arts business specialising
in advertising layouts, brochures, logo design, business cards
and labels.
Maria's greatest
sense of accomplishment comes from a client's reaction to a finished
piece of commissioned artwork - which explains why , faced with
having to choose between art and horses, this horse-mad woman
would pursue art.
Providing,
of course, she is too old to ride.
